What to expect from your Cake Smash session
Mess! A lot of mess! These are the most fun sessions ever – this is one of the only times you will be actively encouraging your child to eat fistfuls of yummy cake and to make as much mess doing so as possible. You don’t even have to clear it up at the end either – what could be better?!

Beforehand, we will have discussed a custom theme for your session so you will get to see this come to life when you attend your session. I will then spend a bit of time getting to know your child, having a play (and a cuddle hopefully) before taking some lovely relaxed portrait photos of them in their first outfit using the bespoke set up while it is still nice and clean!
You can then change them into another outfit if you wish (usually a vest), or I have a couple of lovely vests with a ‘one’ design to choose from, or we can look at custom vests/outfits too, perfect for smashing in! Then it is all about getting your child to make as much mess as they can! They can sometimes need a bit of encouragement but once they know they won’t get in trouble the fun really starts!
Once the cake has been demolished, it is time to get clean again so my tub comes out full of lovely warm water and bubbles so you can take a lovely clean child home and we can get some funny images of them splashing and making even more mess!

THINGS TO KNOW
I’ll spend a lot of time getting to know about your child in the months and weeks leading up to your session ensuring we have everything we need to make your session amazing
The messier the better, do not worry about making a mess, in fact, quite the opposite, it’s encouraged!
Bring a change of clothes for you for after the session, its going to get messy!

Cake smash sessions take place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays starting at 10:30am
Why have a cake smash session
A first birthday is such a milestone for a child and should be celebrated in a big way! Cake smashes are a time honoured tradition in the US that have found their way across the pond and now they are a rite of passage in the UK too!
They are so much fun, and if you book in a 5-6 weeks before their first birthday you will have your images ready to share online on the big day as well as have on display at their birthday party or just for the walls at home!

Don’t feel you need to stop at their first birthday either, they will only get messier the bigger they get so if your 5 year old loves Unicorns or your 3 year old is crazy about construction then let’s celebrate this by smashing cake then too!
Your personalised custom cake
Why go to the effort of creating a beautiful set, full of your child’s personality and then have them smash a store bought cake that everyone could get their hands on? Booking your session
Step 1
Use the ‘Book Now’ button to secure your session for £75 - I’ll be in touch shortly after to arrange a date for your session
Step 2
It’s time for your Mama Bear Photography photo shoot. Let’s have some fun and make memories to last a lifetime
Step 3
Within 1 week of your session you will receive your online gallery and choose which collection you wish to purchase
Step 4
Receive your final fully edited images 3 to 4 weeks later. Artwork, prints and albums have their own delivery timescales

The session fee secures your session time in The Cabin photography studio and includes use of all props & wraps needed to create beautiful images. This fee does not include digital images or artwork, these are purchased after viewing your finished gallery.
